A close up view of our new baker's rackWell, we're finally heading into spring! March came in mild and dry but quickly turned cold and wet! Ahhh Seattle! We love it! Terry has already mowed our lawn a couple times. Sara has been trying to keep up with the weeding and getting ready for planting. Zucchini is new on the list this year. We learned last year, not to put plant too early even though the ground seems warm and ready in early April. A cool damp Spring is forecast yet again for 2009. Boooo hisssss.

Grandma Marilyn gave us a wonderful holiday gift for our "yarden." So Sara has been on the look out for a baker's rack for the South side of our potter's shed. Extra surface space for experimenting with herbs in pots (or perhaps peppers) is the main event. A trip to Ballard's Goodwill was a gold mine on Sunday with this $20 dollar find! (Sara lived 20 minutes walking distance from this Goodwill when she first moved to Seattle.) Sara made Terry take the car home to pick up the truck. She wasn't going to let this one get by her! Sara is tickled pink to not have to search for a baker's rack into the summer months. THANK YOU MOM! xoxo. This picture is taken from our alley. Sara gave away 3 grocery bags of iris last fall but kept aside and transplanted the best in the alley. Hopefully they bloom the royal blue she thinks they are. Space under the ginkgo tree and along our neighbor's garage (George & Rita) is getting ready for green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, cilantro, basil, mint and sage. Sara would enjoy retiring now this year! A bit more work is needed to study up on what herb will go on the baker's rack. From the alley...

There's always Bob.And, for those of you who wanted more of Bob in our last update. Here is a latest picture. Isn't he cute? Bob turned 9 this February. (Thank you Ashley for his card). He needs a professional hair cut. He's slowed down a lot. We walk up to about 94th street and back and he's gone far enough. We remember when he used to be way ahead of us at the end of his leash, pulling us along. Now we slow our pace so he can keep up. Still, a neighborhood dog or a squirrel can bring out the young pup in him. Our toddling nephew, Michael, calls him"Bobba" and calls any fluffy dog he sees "Bobba", but only dogs with a lot of hair. Bob continues to shadow Sara where ever she is, and has a favorite spot near the dining room table so he can watch her in the kitchen. He's a good old dog, and loves Seattle as much as we do. We can't imagine life without Bob...or his hair.
